No. Evictions in Ontario require an LTB order and a Sheriff's enforcement. No landlord can legally lock you out or remove your belongings without one.

Rent continues to accrue. Landlords should document every missed payment.

One-party consent is legal in Canada for audio. The LTB can accept recorded evidence if authenticity can be established.

Conduct that substantially interferes with normal use of the unit — harassment, illegal entry, noise, utility shutoffs, removal of amenities.

Only if you're convicted. A withdrawal, stay, or peace bond does not create a conviction. Even a conviction can later be pardoned (record suspension).

Don't miss it. Call us before that date. Skipping court creates a fresh offence (failure to appear).

Pending charges and certain convictions can create problems at the border. We'll walk you through the risk.

Non-citizens: criminal charges can affect status and sponsorship. Tell us your status at the consultation — this changes strategy.

Possibly. Legal Aid Ontario has income thresholds. If you qualify, we'll tell you.

A commissioner can administer oaths and take affidavits for use in Ontario. A notary can do all of that, plus certify copies, authenticate signatures, and execute documents for use outside Ontario.

We notarize the signature, not the content. If the document is in another language, bring a translator (we can recommend one).
